New Look and Feel
Welcome to DataZone 3.0. This page is designed as a quick guide to the updated platform. It will cover the basic use of the platform and highlight key changes from DataZone 2.0.
Why the change?
DataZone 3.0 is built on a new data model and analytics platform that combines contemporary web analytics feel, with improved access to your information at the data warehouse level. New features and functionality in DataZone 3.0 include: A multi-year filter, dynamic cohorts, improved navigation, new metrics, and an equity-based design.
User Access & Authentication
Authentication is now managed through single sign-on utilizing Google or Microsoft Azure AD.
At this time our team is recommending district partners to select Google from the authentication page and follow the instructions to sign in.
If you are already signed in to other SSO applications, you will automatically be authenticated and routed to your default dashboard page.
Important Note about User Access in 3.0
If you are a new user or have never logged into DataZone, please reach out to our Help Desk to get your account set-up. This is an interim step while we complete the security implementation in 3.0.

What data is available in each dashboard?
Below is a general overview of the data available in each dashboard. Data Inventory is also available and organized by data element (not dashboard)
My Site (coming soon!)
My Classroom
My Classroom will continue to be the landing page for teachers. This set of teacher-focused dashboards shows students who are or have been assigned to a classroom teacher and includes attendance, academic, and demographic data as well as a student roster. Teachers have the ability to look at current rosters as well as previous years’.
Foundations
Foundational data elements such as enrollment numbers and attendance trends are now grouped under the main dashboard called Foundations. You will find these dashboards under Foundations: Attendance, Enrollment, Behavior (formerly Discipline), Marks, Master Rosters (Student Master Roster, English Learner), SEL.
High School
Data and dashboards specifically for High Schools have been grouped into a new set of dashboards called High School. High school course enrollment data as well as graduation data and CollegeBoard assessment information such as AP, SAT, and more will be located here. Basic enrollment for a high school or attendance trends will still be located under Foundations. Here are the dashboards under High School: HS Courses (coming soon), Graduation, and College Board.
State Assessments
State Assessments include the key tests that are administered at the state level and widely utilized by districts. They include: Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBA) in ELA & Math, California Alternative Assessment (CAA) and as data becomes more available CAST (California Science Test). Dashboards for English Learners performance on ELPAC are also available - both Summative ELPAC and Initial ELPAC data is available in metrics. The dashboards provide information related to overall students performance as well as breakdowns by subject/strand level as well as grade level, student program, and race/ethnicity.
District Assessments
Standard (meaning tested and supplied by an assessment vendor) district assessments are available in the District Assessments dashboards. These assessments are specific to a district - however, will cover only standard benchmark assessments. The dashboards provide insights into performance by students across subject areas, grades, student groups with the ability to drill through to see which students are performing in certain levels and bands to assist with intervention and MTSS.
Early Warning
Early Warning (EW) is a set of dashboards which provide near-real time information on research-based data elements which indicate if a student is at off-track (high risk) for not advancing from grade level to grade level or graduating from high school with their peers. This Early Warning system, and DataZone’s own set of dashboards grew out the John’s Hopkins work of a simple premise that disengagement from school is a gradual process and that students send identifiable signals that they are on the path to dropping out. As a result, we believe that this data could be used to identify trends among students, enabling educators to intervene with those who are likely to leave the education system unless they are effectively supported [On Track for Success - Use of EWIS (Research from Johns Hopkins)]
Student Search
The student search feature is available as an option in the top navigation bar as well as most student detail lists. Student Search in the main navigation allows you to search current year rosters and previous years for students based on SSID, Local/District ID, or Student Name.
Notes about Navigation & Metrics
There is greater diversity in the types of metrics we have and how you can interact with them.

More Options - Export Data
To download or export the data, hover in the upper right hand corner of the metric. Different metric types may have different options. Yet, almost all of the metrics in the system can be exported.
Drilling into a Metric
Almost all metrics in the warehouse are Drillable - this means you can click on a part of the chart, table, or block and get to list of Students. You can easily go from a Metric to a Student List to a Student Profile.
To Drill to a Student List from a Metric or Graph
Right Click (for PC) or Crtl+Click (for MAC) on the metric
Select Drill through
Click on Student List
