Understanding Metrics & Metric Options
What is a Metric?
A metric is a graph, table, or block of data.
Using the Metric Options
Metrics tools are still available in the upper right-hand corner as three dots. To see them, you must hover over the upper right-hand corner until they appear. This is also called More Options.
The More Options allow you to:
Export Data - Choose the preferred mode of data export - XLS or CSV.
Show as a table - View only the specified metric and its underlying data in a table format.
Export Data
Under More Options - Export Data, you may have the option to export data for a respective metric in different formats.
To export data, follow these steps:
Select Export Data
Select the export format: Data with Current Layout, Summarized, or Underlying
Data with Current Layout: Select this option if you want to export data exactly as it is laid out in the metric/dashboard. This will be downloaded as XLSX.
Summarized: Select this option if you want to export data for what you see in that visual. This type of export shows you only the data (columns and measures) that you chose to create the visual. If the visual has an aggregate, you'll export aggregated data. You can select XLSX or CSV.
Underlying: This feature may be disabled on most metrics. Select this option if you want to see the data in the visual and additional data from the model (see chart below for details). If your visualization has an aggregate, selecting Underlying data removes the aggregate.
Click Export
The report will download to your device
Show as Table
Show as Table shows you the metric on a new page with the underlying data table. If desired, you can also adjust this view by using Metric Tools in the upper right hand corner or download the data. See screenshot below.
More options available in Metric Options
There are additional options to sort the metrics by axis, legend and more using the Metric Tools [More Options].
More Options are available in the upper right corner of a metric. Depending on the metric, there are different options available.

Metric Information (Help)
Some metrics have a question mark or Help Icon in the upper right-hand corner.
This gives more information about the metric - a definition or other clarification.
Drilling into a Metric
Almost all metrics in the warehouse are Drillable - this means you can click on a part of the chart, table, or block and get to list of Students. You can easily go from a Metric to a Student List to a Student Profile.
How to Drill Through
To Drill to a Student List from a Metric or Graph
Right-click (for PC) or Crtl+Click (for MAC) on the metric

All About Student Lists
A Student Detail List is a roster of students that is available when you drill into a metric.
Student List will include student name, state ID and local ID as well as other demographic information as well as data related to the metric.
Using the Filters button when Drilling into a Student/School Detail List
The Filter Data button can be used to further narrow the results in a Student List.
Depending upon the data, you can filter by:
Demographics (i.e., grade, gender, language proficiency)
Or filter by Student Groups (My Groups or Standard Groups)
